We'll see tonight, please bring your baby home, gave us a shower gift last month, but tonight we'll be happy. Lindt card and some chocolate for mom and dad, some more suggestions. Fruit? The new father comes back from shopping, so that the fruit can be a waste.

Now I want to bring food.
Call now and do not say that about everything for the preparation of food, care, and bring a potluck.
A greeting card is a good idea.
Then perhaps a desert, that parents can bite during the week, such as biscuits, cake or torte.
A small gift for the new mother is always beautiful.
You do not all go and spend money than to do absolutely everything, such as preparing dinner, and I think it would be a nice gesture.
I agree with a good cooked meal, and the cutest, what someone had to do, when I brought my son was my friend did all our dirty laundry, too dry here. If you do not have very close neighbors, but may be invasive
